Magirus is proud to present its latest generation of firefighting vehicles: CORE and FLEX. These two innovative vehicle concepts were developed to meet the rapidly changing needs of fire departments worldwide.
Magirus CORE: The heart of modern firefighting
The Magirus CORE represents the heart of the new Magirus firefighting vehicle portfolio from Ulm. The concept is based on modern modular box bodies with lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum sheet metal and maximum stability thanks to a high degree of integration. The models are consistently geared towards standards and standard vehicles in Germany and Europe, but are also suitable for many international markets. The innovative new development sets new standards through sheet metal forming technology and composite construction, which is unique in this form in the industry. A future-oriented response to changing market requirements with well over 1000 different configuration options for the body modules.
The Magirus CORE allows up to 25% shorter production times and therefore also shortens delivery times for customers. In addition, the modular design allows higher production efficiencies for large orders than with traditional profile designs.
To ensure the proven Magirus quality, the CORE was tested under the toughest operating conditions (full life cycle test) on the Iveco on- and off-road test track in Ulm. It is as robust and reliable as its predecessor models. It has been designed with particular emphasis on ease of maintenance for high operational readiness and efficiency.
The CORE is built at the Magirus plant in Ulm. The final delivery for German customers will also take place here. For selected international markets, the new model will also be manufactured in Brescia, Italy, in the future.
The CORE offers the following product variants:
- Optional crew cab from the vehicle manufacturer or Magirus TeamCab
- Standard market chassis variants available (Iveco, MAN, Mercedes-Benz available from the start - other chassis are under review) from 14t-20t, 2-axle chassis
- Wheelbases approx. between 3,900 mm and 4,500 mm
- Flexible interior fittings thanks to predefined loading modules
- Water tank size between 1,000 l and 4,500 l total volume
- Proven and powerful Magirus extinguishing technology for built-in pumps with new, environmentally friendly extinguishing agent container technology in polyethylene
The CORE will be available to order from the first quarter of 2025, with a gradual expansion of the variants in 2026. Customer demonstration vehicles will be available from the second quarter of 2025. In the meantime, the vehicle will be presented to customers at various trade fairs.
Magirus FLEX: Customized solutions for individual requirements
While the CORE is based on a modular design, FLEX goes one step further and offers - as its name suggests - maximum adaptability and customization. The FLEX is based on the tried-and-tested AluFire 3 modular profile system made of corrosion-resistant aluminum, which has already proven itself in around 5,000 vehicles worldwide, and thus enables tailor-made solutions for specific application requirements.
"FLEX is the perfect choice for fire departments that require customized solutions," explains Thomas Hilse, CEO of Magirus. He continues: "It offers full Flexbility in the choice of chassis and enables us to implement specific individual customer requirements. In addition, the FLEX can be retrofitted over the entire service life of the vehicle, which offers long-term investment security. The individually adaptable "tailor- made suit" within the new series."
The FLEX Model allows the many configuration and equipment variants to be adapted to a wide range of applications, even outside European standards or for the international market. The maximum equipment variance is made possible by the infinitely variable adjustability of the interior fittings. This also makes it very easy to repair for high availability and can be retrofitted over its service life.
The FLEX is manufactured in a production network in Graz, Austria and Ulm, Germany. Final delivery for German customers takes place in Ulm.
The new FLEX fire engine offers the following product variants:
- Magirus TeamCab crew cab, optionally available in various crew cab configurations
- Variable chassis selection - on all common chassis from 12 tons and with different wheelbases & choice of individual motorization and drive
- Maximum variability with proven Magirus pumps, proportioning systems and tank sizes
- Water tank size between 1,000 l and 6,000 l
- Wheelbases between 3,600 and 4,500 mm
The FLEX can be ordered immediately as (H)LF 10 & 20 and TLF3000. The gradual expansion of the variants will take place in 2026-2027. The vehicle will be available for customer demonstrations from the second quarter and will be presented together with the CORE at the main trade fairs in the meantime.
The CORE and FLEX families have a lot in common
Both vehicles were constructed in the new MagirusDynamicEdge design. This powerful new design language will be extended to all Magirus products in the coming years and underlines the uniqueness of the Magirus brand.
Both the CORE and the FLEX are equipped with a modern, energy-optimized LED-lighting concept, plus a light mast. They allow safe storage and ergonomic removal of the equipment, all in proven Magirus quality in production and durability of the materials. The full range of customer-oriented Magirus services, from inspection to maintenance, is of course also offered.
In terms of technology, both vehicle models can be optionally equipped with Magirus FleetConnect, a standardized digital fleet management system (dashboard with live view, maintenance manager, digital logbook, reporting) in the Magirus Cloud.
Magirus EasyOperator: New generation of operating technology
Both vehicles - CORE and FLEX - are equipped with the new EasyOperator control panel. This system offers intuitive and user-friendly operation that is specially tailored to the requirements of firefighters. The modern design and clearly structured user guidance guarantee quick function selection and increase efficiency and safety during operations.
"With Magirus EasyOperator, we have developed a control panel that will make the work of firefighters much easier," explains Marc Kuntz. "It is a further development of the Smart Control turntable ladder control panel and offers a uniform operating logic across all Magirus products. It will be used in all our vehicles from 2025."
