From now on, three new Magirus HLF 20 multi-purpose fire and rescue vehicles will reinforce the volunteer fire brigades in Dresden: as part of FLORIAN 2026, the Ulm-based firefighting technology manufacturer handed over three HLF 20 vehicles to the City of Dresden. The ceremonial vehicle handover was one of the highlights of the trade fair, at which Magirus presented modern firefighting and rescue technology from 8 to 10 October. The 25th edition of the trade fair attracted more than 25,000 visitors and over 370 exhibitors from eleven countries.

In the presence of Deputy Mayor Jan Pratzka, responsible for Economic Affairs, Digital Services, Human Resources and Security, and the Head of the Fire and Disaster Protection Department, Senior City Director Dr. Michael Katzsch, the three new multi-purpose fire and rescue vehicles were handed over to representatives of the volunteer fire brigades of Bühlau, Klotzsche-Hellerau and Langebrück.

The HLF 20 vehicles are based on a MAN TGM 13.320 4x4 chassis and feature a Magirus TeamCab XL for nine emergency responders, a 2,000-litre water tank and a centrifugal fire pump with a rated output of 2,000 litres per minute. The equipment also includes the Magirus EasyOperator dual control system and the Magirus QuadroFlash. The vehicles are designed for firefighting and technical rescue operations.

Rescue technology and robotics live in action

At the Magirus stand and in the demonstration area, visitors were able to experience various options for aerial rescue using Magirus turntable ladders. Together with rescue specialists Marco Weber and Henning Edler from TH Rescue, Magirus also demonstrated practical rescue scenarios and how vehicle technology and rescue methods work together during technical rescue operations.

The remote-controlled AirCore TAF35-C firefighting robot was also part of the demonstration programme. Alongside its firefighting capabilities, it drew particular attention with a special action in which Magirus ‘Cody’ mascots were launched into the crowd of visitors.

With a large outdoor stand and an additional equipment presentation indoors, Magirus showcased a cross-section of its portfolio. Following INTERSCHUTZ in June, FLORIAN provided a further opportunity for direct dialogue with fire brigades, users and partners on current requirements and technical solutions for everyday operational use.
