Start of apprenticeship in 2024

On 2 September, a total of 45 new colleagues started their careers at the Iveco Group in Ulm, i.e. at Iveco Magirus AG, Magirus GmbH and EVCO GmbH. 35 trainees are aiming to complete a three or three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship in the following professions: industrial clerk, warehouse logistics specialist, construction mechanic, vehicle painter, industrial mechanic, electronics technician for industrial engineering or automotive mechatronics technician for systems and high-voltage technology. Eight students on the four-and-a-half-year dual study programme based on the Ulm model, specialising in automotive engineering, and two BA students specialising in business administration round off the new recruits.

In order for the career starters to arrive, orientate themselves and make contacts, they first went on a teambuilding week. There they were given comprehensive information about their future careers in the modern commercial vehicle companies at the Ulm site, the training programme and the work processes. In addition to team-building measures and the communication of values, the programme also included various presentations with practice-oriented group work. These were led by the coordinator for training and further education, the youth representatives and the training supervisors and not only offered in-depth insights into the companies of the Iveco Group, but also provided valuable tips and tricks for harmonious teamwork.

The new trainees were welcomed on 6 September by Thomas Hilse, President of the Firefighting Business Unit at the Iveco Group, Sascha Breitscheidel, Head of Human Resources for the DACH region at the Iveco Group, the HR managers of the three companies at the site as well as the works council, the training supervisors for the respective professions, the training officers and the youth representatives.

‘Our consistent training policy at the site is of central importance, as it not only secures the next generation of skilled workers, but also shapes the corporate culture of tomorrow,’ says Thomas Hilse.

Sascha Breitscheidel adds: ‘With a total of 147 trainees and dual students in all training years, we are one of the largest training companies in the region. In general, the commercial vehicle industry is struggling to attract young talent. Against this backdrop, I am all the more pleased that we in Ulm are an attractive training company with prospects for the future and that we were able to fill even more positions with talented trainees and students this year than in previous years.’

Magirus subsidiaries in Austria and France also focus on training young people

A new chapter in the lives of three more young people began on 2 September in Premstätten near Graz. From now on, they will be trained at the Magirus Lohr plant in Austria in the fields of automotive engineering and vehicle construction engineering. On the first day, they received all the important information and signed their apprenticeship contracts together with their parents.

The Magirus subsidiary Magirus Camiva in France has also been focusing on training young people since 2023. This year, four apprentices at the Chambéry site extended their contracts for a further year and will continue to develop their skills in areas such as human resources, logistics, accounting and sales.
