Fire at an aircraft

At 12.36 local time the pilot of the B777 received the landing permission for the Dubai International Airport. Through heavy wind shear the aircraft had a crash-landing and slithers over the runway.
During the crash-landing, there was heavy smoke coming out of the cabin. From the emergency call from the crew until the fire fighter team arrived at the aircraft, only 1:40 minutes pass. This fast reaction time was the rescue for the passengers and the crew.

Through the fast reaction of “Black Watch”, the fire fighters were at the crash scene as the crew evacuated the aircraft and they were able to protect the aircraft’s emergency exit slides and secure the passengers. Just a few minutes after the evacuation, the aircraft engulfed in flames and there were several explosions.

Although the fire fighters secured all 300 people, the explosions came to suddenly and a fire fighter died in the flames.

The fire fighter extinguished the fire while the soil temperature was about 67°C. Although the fire was under control after a short time, the aircraft was completely gutted. Through the fast extinguish actions, more damages at the airport could be prevented and it was possible to resume the air traffic in the evening. After three days, the airport was in full operation again.
