The Conrad Dietrich Magirus Award: Where is the Firefighting Team of the Year from?

The Conrad Dietrich Magirus Award was first announced in Germany in 2012 and has been organised on an international level since 2013. The aim of the renowned competition is to increase public awareness of the immense and selfless dedication of the firefighters worldwide who serve the community every day.

  • Since 2012, we call on our comrades everywhere in the world to compete for the Conrad Dietrich Magirus Award. This involves the most exciting missions, courage, tactics, creative strategy and dedication. We award the prize in three different categories, national and international. We assess not only individual performance, but also teamwork, in particular. And we create a stage for putting the value of each individual fire brigade and fire brigade comrade in the focus of the public eye. The three Award categories are

    • International Firefighting Team of the Year
    • National Firefighting Team of the Year
    • Special Prize for Social Engagement
  • History
    Conrad Dietrich Magirus Award

The competition is named after an individual who was a pioneer in firefighting and who to this day remains a role model for those in the profession all over the world: Conrad Dietrich Magirus. The fireman from Ulm made it his mission to improve safety in firefighting for himself and his peers. He came up with revolutionary missions that went on to receive international attention, such as the turntable ladder, also known as the ‘Ulm ladder’. He founded Magirus over 150 years ago, and the company follows the same spirit today, focusing on the work of firefighters and giving these professionals special recognition with the Conrad Dietrich Magirus Award.
